Reduction of CO2 Emissions through Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
DHL Express has enlisted Mytheresa, one of the world’s leading luxury e-commerce platforms, for its GoGreen Plus service. According to the logistics provider’s press release, the two partners have entered into a five-year contract for this purpose.
This aims to reduce CO2 emissions by using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) instead of conventional aircraft kerosene. According to the press release, Mytheresa will invest a multi-million Euro participation amount in GoGreen Plus over a five-year period. This marks the largest investment by a DHL Express customer in Europe in this service to date.
DHL Express estimates that, through this investment in GoGreen Plus, Mytheresa can reduce the CO2e emissions associated with its international shipments by more than 27,000 tonnes over the five years.
There has been a partnership between Mytheresa and DHL Express in Germany since 2006, mentioned Mustafa Tonguç, Managing Director of DHL Express Germany. The collaboration goes beyond business, as they also share common values for a better future.
About GoGreen Plus
Last year, DHL Express introduced the GoGreen Plus service, focusing on CO2 offsetting and SAF. According to DHL Express, GoGreen Plus has significant contracts with BP, Neste, and World Energy.
As explained in DHL Express’s press release, SAF is derived from alternative raw materials with a sustainable energy profile. Used materials include recycled cooking oil, corn, waste, and hydrogen.
