An Antonov An-124 landed at Düsseldorf Airport
A rare spectacle at Düsseldorf Airport. On Friday 22.05.20 an Antonov An-124 with 6.6 million medical face masks on board landed in Düsseldorf at 11:10 am. The masks are needed for system-relevant professions, for example in the medical field.
The Russian cargo plane with a length of 69 m and a wingspan of 73 m is one of the largest transport aircraft in the world. The airlift was organized by the purchasing experts of psg Procurement Services and the Kloepfel Group.
Michael Kofler, Managing Director of psg Procurement Services, explains: “Currently, numerous companies as well as all governments worldwide are fighting for face masks. We are even more pleased that we were able to procure these high-quality masks at moderate prices together with our partners”.
Stefan Nolte, Head of Transport Management Kloepfel 4PL Solutions, states: “The logistical challenges in China were enormous. Only when the Antonov took off in China we could be sure that the delivery would arrive in Germany”.
Marc Kloepfel, CEO of the Kloepfel Group, says: “But thanks to solid quality assurance and our contacts on site in China we were able to reliably filter out the fraudsters from the honest ones. In order to make Europe more independent from China, we are currently building up the mouthguard factory Lindenpartner and the filter fleece producer FleeceForEurope”.
