Investment of 100 million euros for energy storage solutions
Global technology and construction group Strabag is investing in the development and production of safe, sustainable and cost-effective energy storage solutions. In cooperation with the battery storage manufacturer CMBlu Energy, Strabag intends to accelerate and simplify the realization of specific large-scale storage projects through construction projects and infrastructure support.
Both companies aim to give the energy transition a significant boost by combining their respective expertise. This decision is based on the strategy of combining leading storage technology with expertise in construction and infrastructure.
According to the company, this will enable industrial companies, municipal energy suppliers and grid operators to build large electricity storage systems with organic SolidFlow batteries in the coming years in order to use renewable energy even more flexibly.
Global implementation of the energy transition as a goal
According to Strabag, this is the company’s first investment in a storage manufacturer. This step offers CMBlu Energy new growth prospects and support in its goal of deploying the urgently needed technology for the global implementation of the energy transition on a large scale.
By signing the cooperation agreement, Strabag emphasizes its strategic commitment through an investment of 100 million euros. These funds are earmarked for necessary investments to finance both the further expansion of production and the development of new markets.
CMBlu Energy focuses on additional production facility
“As a developer and manufacturer, we can now invest more in the construction and expansion of further production facilities, and we will benefit in particular from the extensive experience and execution power that STRABAG has, especially in the area of large infrastructure projects,” says Dr. Peter Geigle, CEO and founder of CMBlu Energy.
Together with cooperation partners, CMBlu is currently carrying out several pilot projects to validate the large-scale storage solutions in Europe and the USA, including projects in Burgenland, Austria, Wisconsin, Arizona and at the Uniper Staudinger power plant near Hanau.
