An Interview with Delia Dittrich on Her Charity Workshop in Support of the Cancer Society of North Rhine-Westphalia (Krebsgesellschaft NRW e.V.)
Delia Dittrich, an experienced director and presentation coach, combines her professional expertise with personal commitment. In her charity workshop “Presenting with Confidence and Poise,” she helps participants improve their presence in front of an audience. All proceeds from the workshop are donated to the Cancer Society NRW. An interview about the important work of the organization, sources of encouragement in difficult times, and the joy of giving back.
Could you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Delia Dittrich, and I’ve been working in the media industry for over 35 years – including as a director for major TV formats in entertainment, sports, and comedy. Today, I focus on media training and workshops on confident and poised communication. I work with executives, freelancers, and anyone seeking to improve their presentation and communication skills. Since October 2024, I have also served as an official ambassador for the Cancer Society NRW, which I see as a mission to raise awareness of this vital organization.
What is the focus of the Cancer Society NRW’s work?
Their work goes far beyond providing information – it offers real help during one of the most difficult times in a person’s life. A key service is psycho-oncological counseling, which helps people cope with the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis by providing stability, guidance, and ongoing support. Conversations with “encouragers,” who have experienced cancer themselves, are particularly empowering and help patients and families feel less alone.
The organization views itself as an “emergency responder” for psychosocial needs. Upon diagnosis, individuals can reach out to one of several counseling centers – in Düsseldorf, Rhein-Erft-Kreis, Olpe, or Bochum – to receive personalized support. In addition to psychological care, practical issues are addressed: How do I manage as a single parent? Who takes care of my children? What can I do if I feel unsupported in a clinic?
There are also special programs for children and teens affected by a family member’s illness, offering relief from daily stress. With compassion, expertise, and a strong network, the Cancer Society NRW provides vital information and active support.

How do you support the Cancer Society NRW through your charity workshop?
I run workshops where the full participation fee is donated to the Cancer Society NRW. These workshops also serve as a platform to raise public awareness about the organization’s work. Currently, they take place twice a year – once in Düsseldorf and once in Cologne. I also support the cause by attending events and leveraging my professional network.
What inspired you to launch this initiative?
The idea was born during one of my professional workshops, where Judith Matzke, a fundraising officer at the Cancer Society NRW, was a participant. Her story moved me deeply. It became clear to me that I wanted to contribute and use my skills to support this important mission.
What motivated you personally to become a volunteer ambassador?
I’ve experienced cancer in my own circle – my mother and a close friend passed away from the disease. I’ve also seen the speechlessness many patients face. I want to help break the isolation, inspire hope, and raise awareness of the Cancer Society NRW’s services. This is my way of giving back for everything I’ve been fortunate enough to experience in life.
What can participants expect from your upcoming charity workshop on June 27?
It will be a highly interactive session where everyone actively participates. Many people feel anxious about public speaking. In a safe and supportive environment, participants will learn to present themselves authentically, confidently, and clearly. I’ll share practical, everyday tips that are easy to apply. The goal is to help people recognize their strengths and enjoy presenting – without pressure or stage fright.
How is Kloepfel Consulting supporting you?
Kloepfel Consulting is generously providing the venue – an invaluable contribution that makes the workshop possible. I handle all the logistics myself, as the Cancer Society NRW, being a nonprofit, cannot directly accept participation fees. The entire amount will later be transferred as a donation.
