BRE2 will in the future dispatch up to 550,000 packages
Amazon announces the opening of a new logistics center in Großenkneten, Germany.
The warehouse, named BRE2, covers approximately 52,000 square meters and spans four levels. With a height of 24 meters, it offers space for around 16 million products. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including more than 3,000 robots, the center will prepare up to 550,000 packages for shipping daily.
Construction work began on February 5, 2021, and the facility is scheduled to start operations on August 28, 2023.
New working conditions
Amazon plans to create up to 1,000 jobs with advancement opportunities in the region through the opening of the logistics center. The company offers a diverse range of positions, including roles in shipping and IT.
Amazon is implementing a four-day workweek for its employees in Großenkneten, with shifts lasting ten hours.
According to the press release, employees will have access to over 826 parking spaces for cars, with 80 equipped with electric charging stations. Additionally, there are more than 200 truck parking spaces available.
Infrastructure
The new logistics center is located in the triangle formed by the cities of Bremen, Oldenburg, and Osnabrück and is well connected to highways and railways.
There are two bus stops for employees directly at the building. Amazon initially plans to have its own shuttle service before the final connection to public transportation is established.
