The company plans to create 4,000 new jobs in three new logistics centers by the end of the year: Operations will begin in Horn-Bad Meinberg (North Rhine-Westphalia) in late summer 2024, in Erfurt (Thuringia) in May 2024 and in Großenkneten (Lower Saxony) in August 2023.
As a result, Amazon is expected to employ a total of 40,000 permanent employees in Germany by the end of the year.

As part of Amazon’s investments in Germany, Amazon Web Services (AWS) plans to invest a total of 8.8 billion euros by 2026 to further expand the cloud infrastructure of the AWS Europe (Frankfurt) region in the Rhine-Main area. According to the company, this investment is intended to meet the growing demand for AWS services in Germany, which is being driven by the potential of cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
According to a new study by AWS on the economic impact of cloud infrastructure, the AWS investment plan is expected to contribute 15.4 billion euros to German GDP over this period and create an average of 15,200 full-time jobs in the local supply chain each year.
Investment in training programs for German employees
Amazon also reports that, in addition to investing in infrastructure and innovation, it will also invest in employee training. The company offers a comprehensive range of training and development programs for employees in the areas of logistics and customer service and covers up to 8,000 euros of the training costs for the respective career aspirations.
According to Amazon, the company cooperates with renowned training providers who offer state-recognized qualifications in areas such as environmental technology, IT, human resources, accounting, foreign languages and truck driving. More than 150,000 employees worldwide are said to have already taken part in these programs.
AWS also offers a variety of education, training and certification programs that enable people in Germany to expand their digital skills and use cloud technologies.
